—Myself and the Gun (All Vocal Version)
Myself and the Gun feat. Seth Persons (All Vocal Version).
So, I’ve been mixing the vocals for Myself and the Gun over the past couple of days and really like the way the song sounds with just the vocals (so many vocals) and the rhythm section. I will probably do a similar version as a B-Side or remix of the final track.
So excited about this song
We are very excited to have been featured on homoground!

Punk rock Storm + Janet Jackson’s Control, by Cliff Chiang. I don’t think I can accurately express the pure joy I feel when I look at this image.
—Witch Doctor Rough Remix
More excitement from Dani! She’s done a remix of a song of hers that I’m singing on, and I love it! Give it a listen:
Dani DeLuna - Witch Doctor (Rough version of Remix). So, if any of you were following my play by play on Facebook and Twitter last night, I was remixing Witch Doctor for > 12 hours. The vocals are by the lovely Seth Persons and myself and all of the instrumentation, programming, etc is mine.
For the producers out there (HOLLA!), I rewire Reason 4.0 in to Logic Pro 9 and compress on both ends. I get the soft synths, drum machine and loops from/through Reason. For recording, I use a Blue Woodpecker mic and an Apogee Duet (WIN). The guitar is a Roland ready Strat. (Thanks to The Tatum for the equipment!)
I think it’s the first time I’ve ever done a remix all in one sitting. Since it was my own material that I remixed, that makes me an extreme narcissist! amirite? ladies? LADIES???
Keep in mind that this is ROUGH and I have more compressing/editing to do. BUT 90S HOUSE!
I am very excited to be involved with this project! Follow Dani’s tumblr, and get in on the ground floor. I am in awe of what I’ve heard so far, and I have a feeling you will be too.
A lot of very exciting things happened today!
1. I met with Belinda Martin about styling for the upcoming music videos and photo shoots. We’re going Dia De Los Muertos + Black Lines
2. Speaking of Black Lines, that’s going to be the theme for the album
3. Becca Sansom and I thought of the most…
I never really wrote about my trip to Sweden. It was great! I was excited to get to see my friend Martin and begin work on our project, which we’re calling Adam & Yves. B/c who doesn’t love gay, Biblical puns? More on that later. Hopefully we’ll have something to share soonish.
Lots of gelato, coffee, falafel, and ‘people’s beer’ were ingested and the weather was wonderful.
I also got to hang out with the wonderful guys in The Sound of Arrows while in Stockholm. They have an album coming out in September which is bound to be a global phenomenon, so keep your eyes peeled and your ears open.
Next weekend is planned for you. There may also be a belated Bastille Day party thrown in the mix too.
Our next race, which is a mash up of last year’s Tour de Birmingham and the 3rd Annual Garden Party is coming up July 16 & 17! It is modeled after the Tour de France, so we’re having a sprint and hill climb section, as well as a overall winner. More info will be posted as we get all the details worked out. We have a facebook event set up so go on over and RSVP!
The party on Sunday the 17th will include snacks from some local restaurants, a keg, and live music. Get ready!!
Thanks to our sponsors, Scout Branding, and our awesome poster designer Dan Gavin!
1. Changing your computer’s desktop to one of those really pretty nature pictures - maybe a waterfall or ladybug up close - and then staring at it for five minutes until the screensaver kicks in.
2. Watching a pretty interesting character drama get eaten by random clips from that “Earth”…
